Compensation: $72,000 Annually

Probation: 180 days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
JOB SUMMARY: The Event Manager supports the Director of Events and Production with the planning and execution of the Center’s events spanning Development, Community Engagement, Programmatic events, and third-party event rentals and fundraisers. This position will focus on executing the Development events as its primary focus and support the rest of the Center events as it’s secondary focus. The role is concept to execution event management, heavy on administrative logistical planning and with physical event execution duties. High attention to detail and proficient administrative skills are essential. Responsible for supporting the Center’s Director of Events and Production with any additional duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Assist Director of Events and Production in the planning and execution of all center events.
2) Management of all Development events.
3) Day-of event support for other Center events as needed.
4) Work with Center staff in relevant departments to produce successful guest experience as it relates to ticketing, check-in, and other communications.
5) Extensive logistical planning of equipment rentals and management of external vendors.
6) Creative writing and copy editing of event descriptions, marketing materials and ticketing information.
7) Financial management of vendors invoices, ticketing reports, fiscal reporting, and accountability.
8) Book performers and entertainment for Center events.
9) Follow event timelines to ensure all event tasks are completed on time.
10) Work with the Marketing and Communications department to develop communication for events, including media, press, social media, and dark ads.
11) Work with Corporate team to implement agreed upon sponsor media activation, including social media and on-site event branding.
12) Ensure the maintenance of a database to track income, expense and other measures of progress, and keep the Director of Events and Production informed of progress and any possible variation from agreed upon goals.
13) Work with Volunteer Resources staff to identify and supervise all event volunteers.
14) Ensure that financial returns are properly and promptly recorded, reported, and acknowledged after the end of each event. Provide accurate final reports for Development, for the events committee, and for the Los Angeles Police Commission.
15) Complete & file Notice of Intention and assist in securing event permits.
16) Provides input and sometimes lead decision making on event décor, styling, and design.
17) Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1) Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
2) A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
3) Minimum 4 years full-time event experience including the development and implementation of events.
4) Experience executing Development fundraising events for non-profits or community groups.
5) Working knowledge of the Los Angeles and LGBT communities preferred.
6) Superior organization, data-manipulation, and logistics skills including exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
7) Ability to work as part of a team; and a tenacious commitment to achievement of agreed-upon financial targets.
8) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills.
9) Strong computer skills and knowledge including the Microsoft office suite, database operations, Google suite; experience with Salesforce database, Eventbrite, All Seated are preferred, but not required.
10) Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle - ability to drive a 10ft truck is preferred but not required.
11) Ability to lift 50 lbs.
12) Problem solving nature – ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot.
13) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
