Baton Rouge Charter School for children with Dyslexia seeks a highly motivated Special Education Paraprofessional to provide 1:1 support for a student and overall support to our academic team for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and completed two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college credit hours); or received an Associate’s degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher learning; or a minimum score of 450 on the ETS Parapro Exam.
- School-related experience is desired.
- Ability to maintain a professional level of confidentiality concerning personnel and students.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position. Physical demands may include walking and standing to a significant degree, lifting, kneeling, stooping, squatting, crawling, bending, balancing, crouching, reaching, grasping, head and neck movement, and movement across midline.
- Possess motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, alertness, precision, speaking ability, auditory discrimination, and tactile discrimination.
- Must have accurate hearing and visual acuity including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Duties may include, but shall not be limited to:
- Assist with feeding, toileting and hygiene procedures, and other non complex medical procedures as deemed necessary by the nurse and IEP Committee.
- Collaborate with the school nurse regarding the student’s medical support.
- Travel with the student throughout their school day to provide needed individualized support.
- Attend meetings as requested by teacher or administrative personnel.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
- Provide bathroom and related breaks for teachers.
- Assist teachers in the preparation of classwork and instructional materials through tasks such as making copies and assembling materials.
- Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Coordinator.
Salary : $26,600 - $33,700
