Job Summary:
A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Ultrasound Tech) is a Diagnostic Ultrasound Professional providing diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is also responsible for daily operations of the patient’s schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the filed, disease and new procedures as they evolve. Other duties are assigned by the Ultrasound Supervisor according to policies and procedures and the mission of Louisiana Women’s Healthcare.

Computer literacy
Skilled in data entry and use of sonography equipment
Demonstrate communication skills, tack, diplomacy, sensitivity, clarity and accuracy
Maintain a positive working relationship with other co-workers
Abilities:
Ability to understand, interpret and follow policies and regulations.
Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness
Ability to communicate effectively to patients and co-workers and work with others
Ability to follow policies and procedures as directed

Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Background:
Previous experience as Ultrasound Technologist in the private physician setting, preferably OB/GYN office or Family Practice. Computer literacy required.
Temperament:
Prefers detail-oriented work. Ability to prioritize tasks. Willingness and ability to work in any areas of assigned responsibility.
Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity for data entry on the computer. Ability to speak in a clearly understandable manner. Visual ability to review computer reports. Requires sitting and standing associated with normal office environment. All duties to be performed with or without accommodation.
