Job Title I Position: Personal Care Attendant
Reports To: Personal Services Agency Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
This position provides one-on-one supervision for safety and assistance to the patient in activities of daily living to maintain the patient in their home. The Personal Care Attendant provides services to agency patients involving personal cares, transfer assist, cleaning & other housekeeping functions, errands, companionship and performs other duties as directed by the agency director. The Personal Care Attendant will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safety of a patient.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIESAdministrative Timely and accurate completion of visit/time record documentation and verification of service
- Adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to patients, families, and employees.
- Maintain positive working relationships with patients, patient families, Love Orr Care Services staff, community providers and referral sources.
- Always maintain a professional appearance.
- Participate as appropriate in all in-service and education programs required by the agency.
Services and Procedures Assist with Toileting functions
- Transfers and ambulation
- Assisting with bathing, grooming, and hair washing necessary for personal hygiene
- Assistance with medication per parent direction.
- Dressing or undressing of the patient(s)
- Assistance with eating, meal preparation and grocery shopping
- Accompanying to medical appointments
- Redirection, monitoring and observation that are integral part of a personal service plan in the above items
- Redirection and intervention for behavior, including observation and monitoring
- Incidental household services that are an integral pa1t of a personal service plan in the above items
- Appropriate reporting of changes in patient status.Note: This job description reflects management's assignment of duties and does not restrict nor limit the duties that may be assigned.
PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Eighteen (18) years of age
- Be able to provide covered PSA services according to the person's PSA Service plan.
- Meets the training requirements in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Must be able to read and write in English.
Language, Mathematical & Reasoning Skills
- Excellent customer service and listening skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate with the patient & PSA Provider Agency
- Ability to read and write clear English.
- Ability to compute basic mathematics.
- Demonstrate the ability to make appropriate professional judgments.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Able to and provide covered PSA services according to the patient's service plan, respond appropriately to patient's needs and reports changes in the patient's condition. ·
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and documents care given.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
- Empathy for the needs o the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
- Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.

- Occasional use of hands, wrists and fingers and lifting or moving up to 75 lbs. may be required.
- Movements such as stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching are occasionally required.
- This position requires spending much of the workday standing and walking, with occasional sitting.
- Noise and/or level of distractions in the work environment is moderate.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
- Access to a working telephone for regular communication with Agency Manager, patient, responsible party or Homecare / Staffing Coordinator.
