What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pulmonary Function Technician position at Lowcountry Lung and Critical Care?
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Assesses, monitors, records and responds to patient notes in Macpractice software EMR.
- Assists physicians in the performance of their duties as requested and to the physician’s standard.
- Schedules, documents and tracks results of CT scans, MRI’s, and other off site tests related to patient care.
- Ensures the patient records/chart have uploaded appropriate labs & procedure results.
- Telephones, E-prescribes or hand writes prescription requests for physicians to desired pharmacy; documents this action in patient chart & obtains appropriate approval for such actions.
- Disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines and office policies.
- Returns patients phone calls/voice mails at designated times throughout the day; documents actions taken in patient chart with appropriate date/time.
- Reviews daily schedules with Nurse or other M.A. for errors.
- Monitors patient flow and escorts patients from the lobby to the exam room obtaining appropriate measures along the way.
- Prepares patient for exam by taking history, height/weight, blood pressure while recording the information in the patients chart.
- Maintains patient confidentiality in conjunction with HIPAA compliance guidelines established by the practice.
- Maintains knowledge of MacPractice and other computer software as it relates to specific job functions.
- Receives appropriate training and completes PFT’s as needed; PRN.
- Completes General Chest X-rays in a timely manner.
- Performs Pulmonary Function Testing per protocol. Timely and efficient.
- Schedules, educates and completes Home Sleep Testing.
Maintains Home Sleep Testing equipment.
