What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Team Coordinator position at Lowen Corporation?
Summary/Objective:
Coordinates activities of workers responsible for preparing shipments by planning and directs all activities within the release side of the Shipping Department. Will be working closely to Shipping Supervisor to identify schedules. Will assist employees with work process problems.
Essential Functions

-Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement within the department and the company.
-Follows shipping methods.
-Resolves issues for expedited deliveries to the customer and/or job site.
-Interfaces with other departments to resolve problems with timely delivery or disposition of order cancellations.
-Ensures that daily goals are met and sustained daily/weekly/monthly.
-Identifies roadblocks to processes and procedures and offers suggestions for improvement.
-Oversees company owned trucks.
-Verifies quantity and quality of order before packaging and shipping.
-Must be attentive to detail.
-Be able to record information for each customer shipped out including weight, tracking information and special notation.
-Be able to secure the package contents to prevent damage and breakage.
-Clearly affix shipping labels on packaging as well as any special handling instructions in an orderly fashion.
-Be able to read and understand job traveler and verify graphics per customer order.
-Be able to learn how to operate the FedEx and UPS shipping systems.
-Be able to operate the band saw, banding equipment and floor jacks.
-Knows proper lifting techniques and gets help with heavy weights and avoids awkward body positions.
-Must be able to work in the stocking program side of shipping.
-Must be able to put part numbers on the shelf and release part numbers from the shelf.
-Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
-Keep all work areas clear of clutter and equipment.
-Might be asked to take part in year-end and general inventory procedures.
-Report any defective graphic or shortage to Shipping Supervisor
Competencies
-Must be able to access information on a computer.
-Willingness to be trained on the operation of an electric pallet jack and/or forklift.
-Must have the ability to interpret data sheets.
-Must be organized and able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
-Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
-Must be able to give directions and switch jobs if necessary before completed.
-Must be able to multi-task.
-Takes initiative and show leadership.
Coordinator Responsibility
This position supervises the employees on the release side in shipping.
Physical Demands
Occasionally reaching, reach across midline, fingering, feeling, squatting, stooping. Frequently walking, change of position, handling. Constantly standing. Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 65 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work.
This is a full time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hour may vary depending on department and shift. Additional hours will be required to complete projects.
Travel
This position requires no travel.
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalency.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
