What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at LPA, Inc.?
We are looking for a highly motivated Project Accountant to provide a full range of project accounting services. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of project accounting experience in the A/E/C industry and be constantly looking for ways to improve processes, think critically, be detail oriented and be a team player. This position reports to the Project Accounting Manager.
\n- Create, update, and validate project and budget setups in the accounting system
- Review, process, and match incoming consultant invoices to Purchase Orders (PO)
- Validate billing setups and generate bills
- Process pre-bills based on Project Managers’ feedback & system calculations
- Work with Project Managers to identify when a revenue accrual is needed
- Follow up on aging receivables (not primary responsibility for collections)
- Investigate and perform analysis on variances and submit findings to management
- Generate ad-hoc reports as requested
- Investigate all unbilled project costs
- Assist Project managers in circulating and processing write-off requests
- Perform analysis on unbilled cost and/or unearned revenue to ensure proper project close-out
- Use standard best practices for project accounting and/or other applicable GAAP accounting rules
- Maintain and file project-related records
- Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
- Maintain a positive and collaborative professional environment with Project Managers and peers
- Other accounting duties as assigned
- Following up on Consultant Statements
- Posting of monthly Logs for the following Accounts: Entitlement Account, Office checking Accounts, Petty Cash Accounts for all offices
- Reconciliation of bank accounts, as requested
- Clearing of Suspense Labor for all offices
- Monthly EDD Reporting
- Process city business licenses
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner according to established deadlines
- Must be an effective communicator at all levels and enjoy working in a team environment
- Experience with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Degree in Accounting or Finance desired
- Flexibility, collaborative, self-starter, detail oriented
- Knowledge of Deltek Vision Software or MS Dynamics a plus
- Familiarity w/GL activity transactions a plus

The salary range for this position is $53,000 - $85,000 and is eligible for annual bonus. If you are hired at LPA, your base salary is based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience and/or project complexity.
