Project Manager - Hydrogeologist

LRE Water is seeking a passionate highly-technical Hydrogeologist Project Manager to join our Midwest team. This position generally has at least 10 years of experience and developing/developed relationships with potential/existing public, private, or industrial clients, and regulatory agencies. This position will support our Midwest Business Unit with periodic travel to field locations across the Midwest, and/or to support LRE Water projects in other regions.

Responsibilities

Manage Projects

  • Develop realistic budgets and schedules for projects.
  • Present contracts to the Midwest Business Unit Lead that minimize or mitigate contractual risk, and negotiate contracts with clients.
  • Achieve labor and operational targets.
  • Provide effective and timely written and oral communication.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and clients and be able to effectively prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Develop and implement plans individually and with the Midwest Business Unit team to solve complex problems.

Develop and Maintain Good Working Relationships with Clients and LRE Water Staff Members

  • Maintain exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Help the client correctly understand, identify, and formulate solutions to problems (indicators are client collaboration, successful problem solving, and efficient presentation of results).
  • Assist Midwest’s business growth by working with the team to pursue and develop new business and services opportunities.
  • Lead both internal and external teams (indicators are consensus building, inspiring commitment from others, adjusting style for benefit of others, being an agent of beneficial change, and demonstrating the ability to focus on results as well as the process).
  • Make sound, technical, and strategic decisions that are aligned with LRE Water core values, strategic vision, and business model even in high-pressure situations and when information is incomplete.
  • Present a very high level of competence across all areas of work including technical, computer, writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Possess the ability to manage projects to meet project deadlines in a way that meets or exceeds client expectations without exceeding the budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in geology or hydrogeology (or related field) with 10 years of experience in hydrogeology and/or water resources; MS Degree a plus but not required.
  • Strong, all-around academic knowledge and understanding of hydrogeology.
  • Strong background in planning and implementing hydrogeologic desktop and field investigations for groundwater resource evaluations, high-capacity well siting, and well and well field designs.
  • Existing clients and business development experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Strong MS Office skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Possess a positive, can-do attitude, be flexible and self-motivated, and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Desktop and Pro, MODFLOW, Leapfrog Works, AqteSolv, Python, and/or database software a plus.
  • A Professional Geologist (PG) certification, or a Professional Engineer (PE) or desire/ability to obtain certification in the state(s) worked.

Total Compensation:

The starting salary range for this position is $100.000 - $115,000/annually depending upon years of experience and education. Pay is negotiable for a higher level of experience. LRE Water reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range depending on experience. LRE Water also distributes bonuses and 401(k) contributions based on annual company profitability. Employer paid benefits increase total compensation by approximately 20%. Additionally, LRE Water supports training and professional development activities for all staff and offers discretionary bonus opportunities as recognition for performance, earning a professional credential, speaking engagements or publication.

Flexible/Hybrid Work Options:

LRE Water offers a remote work environment that promotes flexibility for our employees and encourages work/life balance. This role is a 100% remote opportunity with our Midwest Business Unit, which is based out of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. Field work may require travel, long field days, weekend work, and night work that will occasionally result in weeks with more than 40-hours of work. Mileage, expenses, and/or per diem paid for work travel.

Travel Requirements

We estimate 10-20% of the Project Manager position will require on-site field work from the project site or client’s office location with potential travel and overnight work trips. All other work can be completed remotely from a home office.
