Job Duties
- Provide project and engineering oversight for the completion of projects from conception through operation. Projects will be in support of LSB production facilities including the development of low carbon nitrogen options. This includes driving the facilities for success as the either the low cost operator or producing the highest quality product in all units (ammonia, nitric acid, urea, sulfuric acid, ammonium nitrate and carbon dioxide.)
- Champion projects with the commercial team and be the one-source of information related to project economics.
- Lead the technical interface between the project, Operations, Maintenance and EH&S groups to insure all operational and regulatory requirements are incorporated into any project design.
- Have a working level knowledge of LSBs plant processes and understand how the projects will interface with the existing units.
- Develop, maintain and track project schedules to ensure that a project schedule, updated and accurate to the level of available information is available for all project meetings and contractor discussion.
- Develop and manage engineering and construction budgets to support the milestone goals for the projects.
- Manage engineering and construction contractors as well as equipment vendors as needed to support projects.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the project cost. Additionally, this individual should understand the changing (rapidly at times) labor and materials market and understand how this may be affecting the project cost estimate.
- Develop strong working relationships with all LSB groups as well as contractors and technology suppliers.
- Responsible for insuring “Lessons Learned” from previous development efforts are incorporated into current and future project efforts.
- Participate in a variety of budget, status, and management team meetings, to provide input and resolve issues.
- Be an active participant in all turnaround meetings associated with the completion of projects.
- Travel as needed, to support the facility and its activities
Qualifications
Job Requirements
- A desire to drive plant operations to optimum performance through excellence project development and execution.
- BS Engineering Discipline, Advanced degrees as well as professional registrations (PE, PMI, etc) are a plus.
- Demonstrated performance in completing plant projects successfully on-time and on budget within an operating production facility.
- Experience in all facets of project disciplines (instrumentation, electrical, piping, civil, structural, rotating and static equipment).
- Ability to use project scheduling software.
- Minimum 10 years of operating company experience (project and operations), preferably with the majority of the experience with nitrogen-based production facilities. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of project experience is required.
- Excellent Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- The individual must be sensitive to and aware of proper procedures and guidelines to follow, especially in dealing with government entities.
