Job Description
The Housekeeping Supervisor works with the Executive Housekeeper to assist in the supervision of the housekeeping and laundry operation to ensure product quality standards are met and that finest service is provided to hotel guests according to hotel and company business objectives. In addition to inspecting rooms and training room attendants this position will perform cleaning duties in all areas of the hotel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with the Housekeeping Manager to recruit, develop, manage and monitor performance while making any recommendations for disciplinary and other human resources-related actions.
- Inspect all assigned suites and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest suites, equipment, linens, and public areas are clean and in good repair to meet guest expectations.
- Assist with training of employees and ensuring that they have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their respective job duties.
- Assist with scheduling and room cleaning assignments to ensure proper coverage.
- May perform all housekeeping duties necessary including cleaning guest suites and hotel public space to ensure guest satisfaction and owner expectations.
- Partner with the Exec Housekeeper to inventory and maintain par levels for linen and room supplies.
- Monitor commercial laundry supplies and equipment to ensure they are sufficient and in working order.
- Manage procedures of lost and found items.
- Coordinate checkout, clean and vacant suite status with the front desk, meeting room needs with sales and marketing, and work orders for repair items with maintenance.
- Inspect all rooms to ensure they have been cleaned and furnished according to Company SOPs.
- Ensure all storage areas are locked when not in use.
- Schedule and approve daily timecards.
- Take end-of-month inventories and requisition supplies.
- Conduct closing duties to ensure all carts are left clean and stocked. Collect and verify Suite Attendant assignment sheets and communicate any discrepancies to the front desk.
- Conduct opening duties by prioritizing workload and assigning schedules to Suite Attendants, Inspectors, Laundry, and House Personnel. Check carts before opening to ensure that they are clean and properly stocked.
- Educate department personnel on emergency procedures, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), safety precautions, and safest work habits.
- Has a thorough working knowledge of approved company housekeeping methods and cleaning techniques; utilizes this knowledge to train Suite Attendants in accordance with company SOPs.
- Remains aware of all potential security problems and reports them to your supervisor and/or the GM/MOD.
- Keeps record of room checkouts/stayovers, submits records to housekeeping everyday.
- Monitors quality of rooms by conducting and documenting inspections of cleaned rooms
- Prepares maintenance work orders in regard to the replacement or repair of furniture, fixtures, etc.
- Ensures completion by following through on orders.
- Checks the status of rooms on an ongoing basis and notifies room cleaners of any changes.
- Checks VIP rooms
- Checks early morning make-up rooms.
- Coordinates cleaning of guestrooms for proper prioritization of customer requests; VIP rooms, checkout rooms, expected check-out rooms, etc.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Keeps record of room checkouts/stayovers and submits records to housekeeping every day.
- Monitors quality of rooms by conducting and documenting inspections of cleaned rooms
- Prepares maintenance work orders regarding replacement or repair of furniture, fixtures, etc.
- Ensures completion by following through on orders.
- Checks the status of rooms on an ongoing basis and notifies room cleaners of any changes.
- Checks VIP rooms
- Checks early morning make-up rooms.
- Coordinates cleaning of guestrooms for proper prioritization of customer requests; VIP rooms, checkout rooms, expected check-out rooms, etc.
- Must be able to lift to 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on occasion.
- Able to work a varied schedule including holidays, weekends, and nights as the business dictates.
