• Develop CFD models small diameter thermoplastic extrusions • Collaborate with research scientists on model inputs and outputs • Optimize CFD models through empirical testing • Document findings and share them with cross functional research teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Material Science, or related field • 3 Experience applying principles of fluid mechanics to develop computation models for fluid flows • 3 years’ experience developing CFD models using Fluent, COMSOL, Solidworks CFD module, Autodesk CFD, Flow3D, OpenFoam or equivalent • Demonstrated experience using CAD tools such as NX, Solidworks, or equivalent
• Understanding of nozzle fluid mechanics and high viscosity fluid dynamics- including calculating velocity, pressure drop, and turbulent and laminar flows • Demonstrated experience working with scientist and engineers to formulate CFD models and establish simulation requirements • Demonstrated experience developing and executing tests to validate analytical CFD models • Experience with thermoplastic materials processing including injection molding, 3D printing, and extrusions. • Experience with setting up modeling on cloud computing platform is a plus • Demonstrated experience developing testing methodologies to characterize material properties.
