HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE (Overview & Key Responsibilities):
The Inventory Control Specialist will work alongside Shipping & Receiving, Production, Blending, external vendors, and other Lube-Tech personnel to maintain a high level of inventory accuracy. This position primarily works 1st shift in the Shreveport facility as assigned. However, the Specialist needs to have flexibility in their hours to meet customer demands. Additionally, this position will require travel to and from local external warehouses within the immediate region.
Inventory Control Specialist:
- Function within the guidelines of the Lube-Tech “Shared Values” and Mission Statement.
- Oversee daily processes within inventory control to meet safety, quality, production, and cost management objectives.
- Review shipping files and production schedules daily to ensure material discrepancies will not adversely affect production or customer shipments.
- Become proficient in the use of Lube-Tech’s manufacturing & inventory control system (JDE).
- Manage inventory of raw material availability for upcoming orders (offsite transfers and incoming shipments).
- Maintain inventory accuracy by cycle counting raw materials, finished goods, and external warehouses.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies to resolve routine problems.
- Coordinate the rework process for the facility including, but not limited, to Nonconforming product, DNR, reclaims, and special projects.
- Coordinate the process to address slow moving inventory.
- Investigate manufacturing variances to ensure issues are documented and resolutions are worked through accounting and IT.
- Transact system transfers of products/raw materials between bin locations, business unit locations, and 3rd parties as needed.
- Perform weekly inventory audits for transactional locations (non-conforming, end of line, production, receiving, and external branch plant.
- Reclass finished good inventory to maintain low SMOG levels and increase On Time Shipment.
- Assist Inventory Control specialist by auditing Production Work Order Closures.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels for fluid products stored within storage tanks, totes, and/or drums.
- Provide support for Production Inventory Control Specialist and/or Material Handlers as needed.
- Participate in plant and continuous improvement projects.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Minimal travel may be required for this position.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications)
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience and/or Training
- Minimum of 3 years in a distribution warehouse or production facility
- Minimum of 2 years inventory management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of Quality, Safety Awareness and Lean Principles
- Strong communication & Organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Licenses/Certificates
- Forklift certified or ability to become certified
- Valid drivers license required for regional travel
- Hazmat shipping certification preferred
Technology/Equipment
- Basic Microsoft Office proficiency
- Inventory Management System (JDE)
- Understand laptops and projectors for training purpose
