Overview
The Associate Product Manager, in partnership with the cross functional teams (Merchandising, Design, Technical Design, etc.) manage the product development and production process for a given product classification. The Associate Product Manager proactively seeks opportunities to elevate the product, achieve the financial goals of the category, and enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop, source and place programs on a seasonal basis, emphasizing quality and maintaining mark-on plans.
- Actively facilitate communication between vendors and cross functional teams such as Merchandising, Design, and Technical Design.
- Build and support integral vendor and cross-functional relationships.
- Regularly meet with Merchants throughout the line building process – maintain awareness of overall assortment and key items.
- Closely monitor production schedules, purchase orders and delivery schedules.
- Attend and participate in fit sessions as needed.
- Evaluate vendor costing and maintain all costing references for best possible pricing.
- Partnering with internal business partners to ensure adherence to production's time and action calendar deadlines
- Communicate and enforce Nautica production, quality, and delivery requirements with all suppliers.
- Partner with Product Operations team to track and ensure the timeliness of all deliveries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree: Major in Merchandising, Production or Design
- 3-4 years of experience in Production/Product Development
- Womens Activewear, Knits, Graphic Tee experience a plus
- Ability to work in high vloume fast-paced environment with shifting priorities; ability to multitask
- Strong cost negotiating skills combined with a detailed knowledge and understanding of garment cost breakdown
- Clear and thorough understanding of the product development and approval process
- Sample request and tracking (TOP and photoshoot)
- Strong communication, negotiation skills and a team player
- Advance in Excel ( V look up, Pivot Table)
- AS400 and DeSL or similar program experience a plus
