Purpose
The Yard Hand position plays a key role in keeping the grounds and the truck yard looking exceptional. The position’s main responsibility is general yard maintenance, but it is not limited to that role. A Yard Hand is self-motivated, disciplined, quality-of-work oriented, and safety conscience and takes pride in the job at hand in a professional and courteous manner to support the operations of LuGreg Trucking, so that we can ultimately provide a superior oilfield service to our customers. Organizational Relationships
This position reports primarily to the Yard Manager on site.
Education & Experience Qualifications (Minimum)

Essential Functions
Daily
- Empty Trash (if needed)
- Accounting building garage (2)
- Diesel tank area
- Washout pit area
- Mechanic Shop by picnic table
- Truck row
- Walk around all buildings, parking areas, fences and perimeter of yard with trash bag and pick up trash from grounds (this includes the creek bed).
- Check sidewalks and water drains for debris such as bugs, grass, ice, etc. and clear as needed
- Refill or top off water softening salt in accounting building
- Keep parts put away & organized
- Check for any vehicles that need washing, this includes semi-trucks and company pickup trucks*
*Note: Washing vehicles includes washing engine & engine compartment, washing undercarriage & full interior detail
Weekly
- Wash down & straighten up washout pit & pump house
- Pile up any junk on the side
- Empty trash in Office/Breakroom of operations building
- Clean up buckets around storage tanks
- Stack empty buckets and lids on south side of Shop
- Inventory chemicals at yard and give report to Yard Manager
- KCL
- Rock Salt
- Packer Fluid
- Hot Oil Chemical
- Biocide
- Corrosive Inhibitor
- Keep soda machine stocked in Operations building
- Purchase as needed from Wal-Mart using credit card or United using charge account
- Keep back shop swept and organized
Periodically
- Pickup & deliver parts to various locations and to the field as needed
- Assist drivers as needed with spill cleanup, tank cleaning, etc.
- Box blade gravel parking lot and gravel yard
- Ensure all dikes are up to SPCC plan standards
- Rake and keep nice
- Repair any damaged dikes
- Check for any burned-out light bulbs and ballasts around facilities. Change if needed
- Evaluate painted surfaces and repaint as needed
- Rails, poles, parking blocks, etc.
- Carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, machine repair, light metal weld work if needed.
- Assess needed repairs and report to Yard Manager
Monthly
- Lubricate overhead doors
- Spray back shop and washout shed for insects
- Add treatment to washer coils
- Ask mechanics for assistance
Quarterly
- Change air filters in all air conditioners (see list)
- Jan 1st, Apr 1st, Jul 1st, Oct 1st
- Maintain an inventory of filters and purchase as needed
Seasonally
- Trim shrubs and lower branches on trees in front of and behind the Accounting building and around the property
- During mowing season: Mow, weed eat, & cleanup of lawns, which includes pasture
- Spray grounds with weed & grass killer where needed for weed control
- Clean gutters
Reporting
- Report to Yard Manager for special job assignments
- Special projects may be periodically assigned by executive management.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Normal schedule will be 5 days a week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with one hour for lunch
- Some overtime will be required due to changing work load
- Schedule is not set in stone with the flexibility to satisfy the company’s needs
Physical Requirements
- Amount of Each Day Spent: Laying 15%, Sitting 20%, Standing 40%, Walking 25%
- Team member Works: Inside 30% Outside 70%
- While Performing the Job, Team Member will be Required to:
- Lift/Carry up to 100 lbs.
- Push up to 60 lbs.
- Pull up to 150 lbs.
- Kneel, Squat, Climb Ladders/Stairs
