The Vice President of Finance is an officer of the Company and is primarily responsible for the effectiveness of the company’s financial health. This position requires a proactive, team-oriented leader who can thrive in a growth-minded organization. This highly visible position reports to the President & CEO and will interact heavily with the entire management team, as well as the Board of Directors and Committees. The incumbent will have broad responsibility across financial functions. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires someone who can support high-level complex finance responsibilities as well as not being afraid to dive into the details on a day-to-day basis.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Build, develop, and lead the finance department. Ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the accounting and finance functions including treasury, credit, and rebate management. Works with managers to develop multi-year plans to become more effective and efficient. Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization; i.e., dealer credit administration, financial operating performance, retirement plan management, health and welfare benefits and corporate planning.
- Oversee key banking relationship(s) to support current and future needs of the corporation.
- Lead the selection and management of professional auditors, both internal and external, and assume responsibility of taxes, insurance and any regulatory issues.
- Manage communication with both the Finance and Audit Committees. Make recommendations on all matters impacting dealer credit, the company’s capital structure, internal and external audits, internal controls, and tax matters.
- Direct and lead processes for business planning, budget and forecast reviews, providing feedback on key assumptions and resource allocation.
- Drive deployment of reporting, including KPI’s, across the organization to allow better decision-making.
- Develops projection and risk management models to facilitate planning processes.
- Act as primary liaison to outside counsel in legal matters including lawsuits, subpoenas, and contract reviews.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA or CPA highly preferred.
- 15 years demonstrated pogressive responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in a high transaction volume business where scale is important.
- Demonstrated analytical and systems skills particularly in financial statement analysis, spreadsheet analysis, data analytics, and management reporting.
- Experience in distribution or another business where scale and efficiency are important. Strong systems aptitude with a proven track record of improving operational effectiveness.
- Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, internal control systems, and financial reporting/analysis.
- Strong leadership record with demonstrated excellence at working with the senior leadership team in driving strategy and sound business management practices.
- Executive presence; Proven competence in successful interactions and presentations across all levels of the organization, including Board of Directors and external financial partners.
- Strong project management experience with demonstrated sound business acumen and financial judgment.
- Excellent written and presentation skills coupled with strong interpersonal and team-building capabilities across different functional areas and cultures.
