Great opportunity in Florida for two Safety Professionals in Florida. Client looking for candidates with MSHA backgrounds to help expand reservoirs for more capacity. Initial project slatted for 2-5 years, with many contracts to come!
- Position 1- Heavy MSHA experience. MSHA Instructor a must!
- Position 2-Great OSHA background with MSHA experience.
Client is a major heavy civil contractor with projects throughout the US. Hiring Manager devoted to direct reports.
What you'll be doing:
- Recognize and control hazardous working conditions and behaviors for employees and subcontractors
- Conduct audits and inspections using company's electronic application, incident and injury investigations, issue Hot Work and Confined Space Permits, and air sampling tests.
- Conduct hazard assessments and determine corrective actions
- Conduct PPE assessments to minimize exposure
- Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted per established procedures
- Implement appropriate corrective action as required
- Accompany all safety, health, and insurance personnel during inspections
- Drive motor vehicle in performance of duties
- Conduct classroom and field training of project personnel
- Climb to heights on equipment and platforms
Who we are looking for has:
- At Least 10 years of experience as a Safety Manager in the heavy civil industry and minimum of 5 years’ MSHA experience
- Preferable MSHA instructor qualifications OSHA Qualified Trainer for Construction Standards courses
- Specific experience with heavy equipment, excavations, confined spaces, and lockout tag out procedures
- Extensive experience and knowledge of construction and/or industrial safety requirements
- Effective communication with diverse groups by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person
- Excellent report writing skills
- Proficient with Microsoft products
- Ability to climb and maintain balance at heights
- Good vision and hearing (naturally or with correction)
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds routinely
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- May be required to drive at night and work alone for long periods of time
- Work in extremely warm environments
- Walk long distances over rough and/or variable terrain
What we prefer:
- 4 year occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of training and related experience
- Safety certification highly preferred
- 10 years of documented safety management experience on heavy civil construction projects
- Proficiency developing, interpreting, and enforcing company safety and health processes and procedures to include OSHA 1926 construction regulations and MSHA
- Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations

Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
