The Role
This candidate will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and directing new business opportunities and partnerships for Lumen’s Mass Markets organization. This position will report to the Vice President, Marketing and Sales and will support the Partner Sales organization and each of the operating groups to facilitate new ventures, including but not limited to current and potential strategic partnerships, commercial opportunities, and third-party product, service, and technology applications.
In addition to negotiating and executing agreements with external executive leadership to drive new partner sales in the Consumer and Small Business segments, this leader will manage a team responsible for ensuring that external selling partners comply with executed contract terms and conditions.
The Main Responsibilities
- Leading the Marketing and Sales organization in the identification of potential third-party/affiliate sellers in the Consumer and Small Business segments
- Lead contract negotiation to arrive and win-win partnership with new and emerging sellers of Residential home internet products and services.
- Interface with various Lumen teams including, Marketing, Procurement, Compliance, Information Security, Legal, Finance, Product Management, Engineering etc. as required.
- Leads the development and implementation of business development programs through in-depth research, partner contact, and complex strategic analysis.
- Leads the development of strategic and business models relative to the acquisition of new innovations, partnerships, products, and services.
- Prepares complex financial models and business cases based on new business ideas, concepts, potential partnerships, and investments.
- Independently structures and negotiates the most complex client deals from inception through deal closure, and effectively manages multiple ongoing key relationships.
- Leads the development and presentation of conceptual and detailed partnership proposals and summaries, for the most complex deals, for various internal and external stakeholders, including executive approval.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Typically, 8 years of overall experience with a bachelor’s degree or 6 years overall experience with a master’s degree
- Significant experience negotiating partner agreements at the executive level.
- Strong understanding of 3rd party consumer sellers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and communicate with various levels of leaders throughout the organization.
- Experience in creating Executive level presentations.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to act with urgency and courage.
- Project management expertise handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Direct leadership background
- Cross-functional understanding of the Mass Markets organization
- Self-starter who enjoys problem-solving with little direct supervision. Ability to learn quickly with a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity.
- Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information
- Ability to travel ~25% of the time.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
