Job Posting for Autonomous Vehicle Wire Harness Development Engineer at Lumenance LLC
Help develop hot autonomous driving technology for self driving heavy duty trucks! Lumenance seeks experienced, hands-on wire harness development engineers who can design electrical harnesses and more. This job requires the engineer to be able to do eCAD, mCAD as well as to help debug autonomous system installations. Successful candidates will be "hybrid types" who have a passion for solving transportation technology challenges.
Interface with vehicle or equipment electrical system designers to ensure basic electrical requirements are understood and implemented
Develop wire harness routing designs in 3D CAD (Solidworks or other). This includes ensuring all harnesses are routed safely and securely and properly connect to applicable electrical units and mating harnesses
Develop clear, readable wire harness drawings (this customer is shifting to Mentor from Autocad) conforming to customer and industry drafting standards
Interface with wire harness suppliers to address Design for Manufacturability issue
Design brackets and other mounting fixtures to secure wire harnesses and related electromechanical devices in the vehicle
Work with team members to trouble shoot the installation of autonomous driving units in heavy trucks and equipment
Must be comfortable re-working wire harnesses and "getting your hands dirty". While you'll definitely be designing, you'll also need to get into the field to help get the job done.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline
Required Skills
Above average ability to use 3D and 2D CAD for the design of wire harnesses and related
components (e.g. brackets)
Solid grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering principles applicable to the design of
wire harnesses and vehicle electrical systems
Able to professionally interface with system designers, software designers, and electrical test personal to ensure electrical system functional requirements are achieved for the project
Able to interface with other functional areas to ensure all design constraints are understood and properly considered when designing a harness
Must be able to communicate in English in a technical environment (both written and oral)
Must be able and willing to take initiative to get the job done. You will be working long hours as required to meet critical project deadlines.
Hands on electromechanical skills. You should feel comfortable reworking a wire harness (as an example) and have basic mechanical aptitude.

Ability to design plastic and stamped parts independently
Basic FEA skills (modal analysis)
