What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Lighting/Audio/Video Install Technician/Operator and General labor position at Luminous Designs, Inc.?

Luminous Designs is looking for part time, freelance production staff to assist in the set up, operation, and removal of temporary lighting and Audio-visual installations in the New York area. Most events are in Suffolk, Nassau and NYC. Applicants must be reliable and punctual, have transportation to and from jobs, and have their own tools. Open positions include:

Riggers

Installation technicians

Audio engineers (A1/A2) – Familiarity with Midas M32 console a plus

Lighting operators - Familiarity with GrandMA2 console, dimmer systems and wireless DMX a plus.

Video operators – Familiarity with Analogway and Blackmagic equipment a plus.

Experience driving 16ft and 26ft box trucks a plus. Experience in the event or live entertainment industry a must. Interviews will be conducted during the middle of April, for work to begin in early May. Please include contact information, experience, references and desired hourly rate. Day rates cannot be accommodated.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma required. College preferred.
  • Minimum of two years industry experience (one year for Assistant Technician).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Must have your own transportation.
  • Must have a working knowledge of equipment typically used in the industry.
  • Ability to efficiently follow direction and execute plan in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Proven organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate.
  • Physical ability to move, grasp, reach for, turn, manipulate, lift, carry, push, pull, and place equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working on ladders.
  • Ability to adhere to a flexible schedule is imperative to this position. Days and hours are dictated by clients’ events. The majority of events/shows take place on nights and weekends.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Agree to a background check.
  • Interview required.

Compensation:

Pay is hourly (W2) and based on experience.

Employee will be given as much notice as possible regarding known testing, however we sometimes are not made aware in advance. All interviews will be conducted via ZOOM, and, if hired, employee will need to mail, drop off or fax paperwork to be hired.
