Materials Business Development Director:
Job Summary
Luna Labs USA, LLC is seeking a creative and motivated Business Development Director to drive commercialization of well-developed materials-based technologies. This Go-to-Market leader will work in a fast-paced environment to craft strategies and lead execution in bringing Luna Labs’ products to market directly and through the establishment of commercial partnerships. Luna Labs has created a portfolio of solutions for government customers in materials, biotech, and engineered systems, and is now ready to move them out into the broader commercial markets. The Business Development Director will help define initial commercialization paths and assess resources necessary to transition potential opportunities into new markets.
Duties and Major Responsibilities:
- Establish a baseline matrix of potential opportunities across the Luna Labs Material portfolio and create the associated analysis to determine potential market opportunity, resources required, competitive landscape, existential considerations, and overall market potential to prioritize test cases to further explore.
- Determine the staffing and resource requirements for the initial (one or two) target market plans and the associated strategy and execution plans. These should include a deeper analysis of competitive solutions, specific target profiles, go-to-market channel considerations (direct/channel), staffing requirements, marketing requirements, pricing expectations, and other considerations required to develop a go-to-market financial plan and associated execution strategy.
- Develop a framework to calibrate success to ensure execution to meet stated commercialization goals within the selected solution’s timeline and budget. This should be done with follow-on solutions in mind such that the plan evolves to a flexible template for broader commercial execution.
Requirements:
Experience/Skills
- Understanding and experience in sales, marketing, and customer/market development and deal structure and negotiations
- Ideally, go-to-market experience in the technology, biotech, or material sciences industries.
- Experience working with marketing to coordinate messaging, branding, content development, social media, event participation, and other elements of a holistic marketing strategy and execution plan
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Materials Science, Chemistry or Engineering is ideal. The candidate must be conversant with technical teams and capable of a consultative approach to leading the go-to-market efforts.
- An ability to build execution plans and supporting financial models
- Experience coordinating partnerships and other constituencies aligned with common goals
- Ideally, this person will have experience with hiring and building go-to-market teams
- Experience in bringing new solutions to market
- Due to government contracting regulations, U.S. Citizenship is a firm requirement.
