Together these entities make up the generic and branded U.S. business. Lupin has a significant generic pipeline, and a branded focus on women’s health. Our first Research and Development facility in the US is located in Coral Springs, Florida which focuses on generic and branded orally inhaled and nasal drug products. Somerset, New Jersey is home to one of twelve commercial manufacturing sites globally and the only commercial manufacturing facility in the United States for Lupin, as well as additional Research and Development teams. Responsibilities
The Manager Operational Excellence (OpEx) reports directly to the Site Head and Vice President of Operations and will head and control the OpEx Department for Lupin's Somerset facility. Will oversee the work of cross functional managers and their teams who will execute the projects under their direction site wide. As the Manager, OpEx, position leads the teams to identify opportunities for productivity improvements in workforce, machine, material and methods to bring results through improved productivity and quality levels of the products and processes. The Somerset facility manufacturers and packages solid, powder, and liquid dosage form pharmaceuticals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the overall site program and culture of enablement and engagement to deliver continuous improvement mindsets and behaviors.
- Identify improvement opportunities in all cross-functional departments for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead the develop the overall organizations’ capability and maturity of Lean Six Sigma initiatives by training Kaizen, Recognition, 5S, TPM, DDS, and RCPS programs
- Train and support our Six Sigma Green Belts and aid in the development of Black Belt employees for effective project execution.
- Sets standards of work within OpEx and teach and engage departments on their own standard work.
- Promotes and champion the use of leader standard work and gemba program among leaders through influence.
- Optimize and track waste reduction initiatives on key cost drivers at the site. Will lead the operations towards improving machine utilization and efficiency through CU & OEE improvement, and debottlenecking projects.
- Total productive maintenance is a future looking initiative the site will take on and OpEx team will structure and lead the mind set and behavior to kickoff the initiative.
- Identifies and leads the quality improvement projects through six sigma program to improve and sustain the robustness of the products through statistical methodologies.
- Establishes key metrics for the operational performance and works closely with operation managers.
- Directs data collection programs and initiatives of direct reports. Will interface with multiple locations across the globe for identifying and executing excellence projects and shared learning.
- Lead projects that require improvement initiatives involving Lean Six Sigma methods. Focus on lean implementations such as 5S, Mistake proofing, SMED, RCA, and VSM methods. Will establish a set of metrics that correspond to metrics used in operations, quality control, quality assurance, analytical research and development laboratories for finished product, raw material, method development, method validation, testing and release processes.
- A leader of people, this role will work with little to minimal supervision and report to the senior leader of operations. Will work with senior leaders to plan the future state and changes and translates those into actionable objectives and goal setting for him/her own goals, the department, and all subordinate positions.
- Build and sustain employee engagement by creating a culture of engagement and empowerment in which individuals and teams can excel and continuously improve.
- As a leader, ensure the site meets all requirements mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Standards.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of experience in leading OpEx program in a manufacturing environment
- Experience managing teams with one or more direct reports
- Demonstrated record of working cross-functionally
- Formal knowledge of Operational Excellence to include 6 Sigma/Lean Methodologies
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply. This position may require lifting up to 35 pounds occasionally. Generally, work is performed in office and manufacturing environments.
