Accounting or Payroll Temp

Luther College seeks an individual to join our Financial Services team on a temporary basis. This in-person position will work 20-40 hours per week as needed.

Job duties may consist of work in one or more of the following areas:

• Assist the payroll function by reviewing timecards, processing payroll, and completing reports
• Assist the accounts payable function by processing vendor invoices and payment vouchers and maintaining vendor records
• Assist the accounts receivable function by processing checks and updating student accounts
• Assist with the administration of Luther's purchase card program
• Assist with general accounting functions, including processing of journal entries and reconciling various reports
• Research accounting or payroll issues
• Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills

• Education:  High school diploma required; associate degree in accounting preferred
• Experience:  1-2 years of experience in accounting clerk, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll position
• Understanding of an integrated general ledger accounting system
• Proficiency with general computer skills, especially G Suite and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college
• Detail-oriented with ability to communicate clearly and accurately verbally and in writing
• Ability to work flexibly on multiple priorities, individually or in teams

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Physical Demands:  Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time; includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or the ability to lift, carry, push or pull, or otherwise move objects with a negligible amount of force.
• Work Environment:  Pleasant, smoke free, air conditioned in summer and comfortably warm in winter.
