What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting or Payroll Temp position at LUTHER COLLEGE?
Luther College seeks an individual to join our Financial Services team on a temporary basis. This in-person position will work 20-40 hours per week as needed.
Job duties may consist of work in one or more of the following areas:
- Assist the payroll function by reviewing timecards, processing payroll, and completing reports
- Assist the accounts payable function by processing vendor invoices and payment vouchers and maintaining vendor records
- Assist the accounts receivable function by processing checks and updating student accounts
- Assist with the administration of Luther's purchase card program
- Assist with general accounting functions, including processing of journal entries and reconciling various reports
- Research accounting or payroll issues
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Education: High school diploma required; associate degree in accounting preferred
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in accounting clerk, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll position
- Understanding of an integrated general ledger accounting system
- Proficiency with general computer skills, especially G Suite and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college
- Detail-oriented with ability to communicate clearly and accurately verbally and in writing
- Ability to work flexibly on multiple priorities, individually or in teams
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical Demands: Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time; includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or the ability to lift, carry, push or pull, or otherwise move objects with a negligible amount of force.
- Work Environment: Pleasant, smoke free, air conditioned in summer and comfortably warm in winter.
