What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Media Producer position at Luther College?
The Digital Media Producer is responsible for producing digital media (audio and video) for events associated with the Music Department and Campus Programming. The media directly support efforts of the Music Marketing team within Marketing and Communications to raise the visibility of the musical, fine, and performing arts of Luther College to off-campus stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the audio and video production, both live and recorded, of all concerts, recitals, and other events scheduled by the Music Department, taking place in Noble Recital Hall (NRH) and Center for Faith and Life (CFL), to ensure the optimum representation of musical excellence.
- Provide support for campus events in the CFL that require technical assistance beyond the capabilities of CFL Campus Programming staff (may include anything from mixing live sound to performing as a stagehand).
- Direct video recording and streaming endeavors in the Noble Recital Hall and the Center for Faith and Life, including the operation of audio/video equipment and artistic oversight for large-ensemble concerts and faculty recitals. Student workers will be hired and trained by the Digital Media Producer to operate recording and streaming equipment for student recitals. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the audience experience (live and online) reflects positively on the college, and coordinating the use of the recordings for archival and publicity purposes.
- Maintain audio and video equipment (recording and playback) used to produce live-streams and recordings in performance halls, recital halls, and faculty studios. Coordinate the purchase and installation of new equipment.
- Manage the technical operation of the Noble Recital Hall, including providing technical services for the Music Department and other departments that use the hall.
- Provide technical leadership for all technical discussion, planning, and coordination of resources need to support the technical needs of the Music Department in the Noble Recital Hall and the Center for Faith and Life.
- Provide technical support for campus and/or special events as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher
- Experience: Five years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Physical requirements for general office work. Normal office environment with consistent computer use, smoke-free and temperature-controlled office space.
