Bus Driver (Part-time)

Luther Village, an independent retirement community is seeking a part-time shuttle bus driver. The driver is responsible for transporting residents to and from trips and events, some of which may include city driving and traffic (i.e. downtown Chicago) and an occasional day trip out of state.

We are currently looking for 2 part-time drivers, one for the morning/afternoon and one for afternoon/evening. Flexibility to cover others shifts is ideal. Willing to hire a full-time driver and combine the shifts.

Duties include:

• Safely operating the bus while transporting residents (up to 26 passengers) to and from scheduled events and trips
• Load and unload merchandise for residents from bus as necessary (i.e. trips to grocery store, malls)
• Support residents as needed/requested entering and exiting bus
• Record accurate daily transportation logs
• Report all incidents involving resident passengers

Qualifications:

High school graduate or GED required. Writing, reading and communication skills at a high school level in English is required. Must have 3-5 years experience and clean driving record. Must possess a current Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.

A Non Excepted Interstate CDL Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement is preferred as some events occur in Indiana or Wisconsin. Ideal candidate will be willing to become a non-excepted interstate driver.

Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to 25 lbs.

The morning/afternoon shift is approximately a 20-28 hour a week position. Candidate must be available to work Monday from approximately 8:30am - 12:00pm, Tuesday - Friday 11:30am - 4:00pm and every other Saturday from approximately 2:45pm - 9:00pm. Schedule may vary and may also include an evening shift depending on event or trip.

The afternoon/evening shift is approximately a 20-28 hour a week position. Candidate must be available to work Tuesday - Friday approximately 3:00pm - 8:30pm and every other Saturday from approximately 2:45pm - 9:00pm. Schedule may vary and may also include a day shift depending on event or trip.

Background Check & MVR check are required.
