Who we are looking for: The ideal candidate will be mission-driven with a desire to make a difference for families and communities served by LCS Northwest.The Role: The ESL Teacher Assistant provides English language lessons tostudents from different backgrounds and cultures. The ESL teacher will be responsible forplanning lessons and activities, adopting a creative approach, and encouraging and motivatingstudents to learn.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:● Provide 6 hours of class instruction per week (3, 2-hour classes)● Conducting activities and lessons based on ESL teaching methodologies● Encouraging and engaging students to speak in English● Motivating students and using humor to induce a pleasant learning environment● Displaying excellent classroom management● Keeping accurate records of student performance● Maintaining standardized guidelines● Maintain effective working relationships with professional service staff● Learn and work within specific agency operations, policies and procedures affectingassigned workJOB COMPLEXITY: This position is not responsible for development and/or decisionsregarding new policy, guidelines, or the administration of budgets.QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s in teaching or TESOL/TEFLGood interpersonal skillsAbility to create personalized lesson plansPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:ESL instruction tasks are generally performed in a community-based site so travel to and from determined locations will be required.
