Job Description
HIM Tech Full-Time/Non-Exempt Allocate: Lutheran Health Physicians
Under the administrative direction of the Network HIM Director, serves as the key liaison and coordinator for the development and operation of the quality management work of the department for the EHR. Responsible for support functions for the HIM department, including preparing and processing all medical record documents for permanent storage in the electronic record. In addition, this individual takes primary responsibility for implementing and collecting necessary data upon the request of the Network HIM Director to manage health information procedures required by the regulatory, network, hospital, department and corporate requirements. Acts as a subject matter expert and resource for the electronic health record within the facility. Prepares reports as assigned. Serves as liaison within the facility and network.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Education:
Minimum of high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) required.
1 year of experience in Health Information Management or an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Information Management or related field preferred.
Certifications/Registrations:
Current enrollment or completion in the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Program preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external customers, as needed. Demonstrates use of English language both verbal and written.
Ability to work and meet deadlines effectively and efficiently manage workloads and staffing.
Working knowledge and skills of health information practices or principles.
Ability to inspect, read, and analyze written material.
Requires good judgment, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills. Must be able to perform and work on multiple tasks as well as organize and prioritize work.
Adept at working with and retaining a significant amount of detail.
