Job Description

The Business Engagement Liaison is responsible for aligning LSSNCA employment programs with employers’ needs to assist program participants in securing and maintaining meaningful employment. He/she ensures quantity and quality of job placements, engages businesses in order to understand their hiring needs including, but not limited to, the number of openings, the types of jobs in demand, specific job requirements, training needs, and other essentials. He/she is responsible for developing a business engagement strategy that helps build, maintain and nurture relationships with the business community and meet programmatic goals. Plan is to be developed within two months of the Grant Award and strategy must include how to engage new businesses and maintain existing business relationships. The BEL works closely with Case Managers, Job Developers, and the Employment Program Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain current knowledge of the U.S. Resettlement Program;
  • Maintain current knowledge of all Refugee and Immigrant Services programs;
  • Maintain current knowledge of workforce trends and environmental factors that affect those trends;
  • Engage the mainstream workforce system to understand overall local labor market trends while staying informed of regulations and other developments impacting the ability of the target population to secure and maintain well-paying jobs;
  • Work closely with Case Managers and Job Developers to understand the skills needed and clients’ barriers to employment;
  • Develop and implement a business engagement strategy;
  • Monitor and evaluate progress toward achieving quarterly goals;
  • Outreach to area employers through mailings, phone inquiries, and presentations to provide program information and inquire about job postings on a larger scale;
  • Develop relationships with area employers to allow for the regular and ongoing placement of LSSNCA clients;
  • Receive and file “job orders” from Job Developers regarding jobs in line with current caseload profile;
  • Develop and conduct employer surveys;
  • Carry a caseload of 30 clients annually, meet all placement outcomes and ensure familiarity with the population and the processes of intake and reporting;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with area partners;
  • Maintain accurate record of all services provided;
  • Ensure that reports are produced and submitted in a timely manner;
  • Attend all conferences, seminars, and meetings related to program activities;
  • Ensure quality controls through regular file review;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Qualifications and Education Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (four year college or technical school) required, in communication or a related field(s) of study.

Experience

  • 2 plus years of experience in marketing, outreach, communications, public speaking, and/or related field(s)

 

Other Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle;
  • Police clearance and clear drug test required.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Basic computer skills;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) essential
  • Willingness

  • Must be a self-starter;
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Excellent public speaking/presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse environment;

  • Fluency in one of more of the following languages preferred: Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, or Pashto.
