General Description:

In collaboration with the Community Integration Program Manager, the Children and Family
Education Services Supervisor oversees daily operations of the Education Services and youthoriented programming including the Refugee School Impact Grant (RSIG), Youth Mentoring
Program (YMP) and Reception and Placement education.
Providing guidance, leadership, and support in all aspects of service provision, and ensures
compliance with all grant and program requirements. In addition, this position conducts
community outreach and works closely with volunteers and internal and external partners to
grow partnerships and resources to support refugee communities. This includes establishing and
maintaining critical linkages among Tucson resettlement agencies (RAs), schools, refugee
families and students to support refugee student success and educational integration. The job
requires sensitivity to the program population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

25 • Conducts all activities with a commitment to the organization's mission
and strategic plan; focus efforts to inspire a client-centered approach to
quality service delivery and operational excellence; uphold all policies and
procedures.
• Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of refugee contractual
services for the successful resettlement of refugee families into education
services are integrated. Able to capture relevant information regarding
program outcomes and promising practices.
• Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of LSS youth education
programs, providing guidance, leadership, and direct supervision in all
aspects of service provision.
• Provides leadership and supervision to Education Services and RSIG staff
as they support school and community initiatives that engage students in
mutual academic and support groups.
• Works with team members and/or community partners to resolve issues and
ensure clients receive appropriate services.
• In collaboration with AZRRP, LSS-SW leadership and a range of community
stakeholders, participate actively in program development and design
activities that contribute to the sustainability of Youth Mentoring, RSIG and
LSS-SW refugee youth education programming.
• Prepares compliance documentation, including semi-annual program reports,
and assists in writing of program grant proposals.
• The position works in collaboration with the State of Arizona Refugee
Resettlement Program (AZRRP).
o Refugee School Impact: 1) Provide linguistically appropriate
services; 2) Increase family engagement in student's educational
experience; 3) Support behavioral health interventions for refugee
children; 4) Implement tutoring programs and summer activities; 5)
Advance refugee student-let mentoring and support groups; and 6)
Support interventions for refugee children with learning disabilities.
o Youth Mentoring: 1) Develop opportunities and activities to promote
social and life skills, 2) provide opportunities for social engagement
with peers, 3) introduction to American culture, while maintaining
and celebrating the youth's cultural heritage, 4) provide information
about civic and community service activities, 5) support learning of
English, math, and other skills, 6) academic support, 7) career
development; and 8) health and financial literacy.
25 Build foundational understanding of school systems that includes Early
Childhood and K-12 refugee student and family educational integration
challenges.
• Acts as contact and liaison for schools where refugee students are enrolled
(including but not limited to sub- contractors), coordinating meetings with
multiple stakeholders on academic performance, social adjustment
challenges, and disciplinary actions.
• Provides referrals and disseminate information in person, via email and other
social media platforms as appropriate within LSS-SW policies.
20 • Develops program budgets and manages/monitors program finances
according to policy and procedures.
• Coordinates with the Finance department on all finance policies, processes
and internal controls.
• Responds to both new and renewal requests for proposals to maintain and
expand programmatic services and funding sources.
20 • Responsible for the local execution and adherence to program requirements
for appropriate contract/grant/program.
• Coordinating activities for families and children- including social outings,
workshops on a range of relevant issues to encourage families and children
to speak out about their needs, especially in education, and promote
responsible and healthy behaviors.
• Reviews record-keeping, data-entry, and case notes for compliance monthly;
conducts quarterly file reviews and addresses identified issues and concerns.
Prevents compliance issues through consistent monitoring, follow-up
training, and staff performance reviews and coaching.
• Recruits, hires, and trains staff; ensures that all staff are properly on-boarded
and welcomed to include comprehensive training and orientation for
position.
• Creates a positive, safe, and productive work environment; ensures staff time
is managed in-line with job description and duties; coordinates time-off
requests, activity scheduling, and ensures staff are working within assigned
hours and budgetary limitations.
• Ensures completion of HR reporting, performance reviews, and other
paperwork on a timely basis.
• Ensure that all refugee student services are linguistically appropriate,
including training, information about interpretation best practices, support
for sub-contractor language access staff and the use of LSS-SW staff or Case
Aides/ Interpreters.
5 Maintains an established work schedule, including a high level of self-direction and
responsibility. May include weekend and evening activities and state and national
travel.
2.5 Follows internal protocols immediately with regard to safety, health, professional
attire, professional credentials, and the environment of the member and employee.
2.5 Other duties may be added.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages and supervises Education Services, RSIG and
RYMP team, interns, and volunteers as may be necessary to accomplish program
objectives. Responsible for supervision, coordination, and evaluation of staff. Carries out
supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and procedures and
under the direction of the Community Integration Program Manager. Responsibilities
include interviewing, hiring and training staff; planning, assigning and directing work;
appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems to the best of their
ability.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or
experience in working in a developing country, in a humanitarian context or with
vulnerable populations required. Social work degree preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience is required; two years in preferred.
• Previous case management experience strongly preferred.
• Must be familiar with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
(HIPAA) Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules (the HIPAA Rules) that
protect individuals' identifiable health information.
• Provide and maintain a current certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Provide and maintain a current Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, clear the
Department of Economic Security Central Registry Background Check and a
criminal background and motor vehicle screening; must maintain valid AZ
Driver's License, a clear driving record and reliable transportation for the
duration of employment.

Language Skills:

Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to listen and perceive need. Ability to work with people
from diverse backgrounds non-judgmentally. Ability to effectively present and represent LSSSW and the program's needs to religious and community groups as well as others in the social
services community. Fluent in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability in one of the
predominant languages of the local client base is preferred.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to understand basic math and calculations.

Reasoning Abilities:

Ability to define problems, collect data, evaluate information, draw conclusions, and take
appropriate action based on this information. Ability and confidence to make decisions when
appropriate and when to solicit guidance.
