What are the responsibilities and job description for the Colorist- Multiple Shifts position at LX Hausys America, Inc.?

I. Definition

Actively monitors LG Hausys Autoskins production and/or trial run processes against master color samples to ensure product conformance to customer requirements. Gathers samples and conducts color verification for half-finished and finished goods. Develops new colors with input from Technical Engineers and maintains master color books. Responsible for managing pigment bundles for Banbury process and making color adjustments as needed. Maintains electronic color data for all finished products and reports to management as required.

Reports to: Quality Manager with indirect reporting to Quality Engineer(s) and Technical Engineers as needed.

II. Overall Purpose of the Role

Provide support to the production process by ensuring process/product requirements are followed during the product realization process. Ensure product conformance to customer and internal processing requirements at each stage of the manufacturing process by collecting data and conducting relevant color validation. Inform production management of non-conformance and assist in corrective action activities when deemed appropriate by the Quality Manager. Ensure that the policies, guidelines and
. Requirements:
General and Task Management

  • Produce pigment color packages for Banbury process per master recipe requirements
  • Ensure all color packages are labeled properly and delivered to production to meet daily schedule requirements
  • Verify color requirements at Calender process through in-process sampling and adjust color packages as required
  • Maintain master color books with samples from each production run
  • Verifies final color results to master samples at Expander through visual and electronic testing evaluation
  • Develops new colors as required while working with Technical Engineering team
  • Reports daily results of production checks to upper management
  • Maintain a neat and organized work area and ensure records are complete and accurate
  • Work to develop color matching equations to make process less dependent on operator experience
  • Develop color process checks & documentation, work instructions, process flow, and other quality system documents as required
  • Support investigation of customer complaints as it relates to color characteristics

Relationship with Management

  • The Quality Colorist must be a capable, effective communicator and be able to clearly communicate knowledgably and accurately regarding product conformance to requirements.
  • Support the factory’s business goals.
  • The Quality Colorist must be knowledgeable of the needs of the end-user and aware of how production process non-conformance affects the end-user to assist in training Production personnel of the relevance and importance of their activities.

Skills and Attributes

  • Working knowledge of the LG Hausys Autoskins Quality Management System
  • Proficient in electronic color evaluation equipment
  • Knowledge of best practice visual color evaluation and comparison
  • Detail-oriented and able to accomplish goals without direct supervision
  • Capable user of Microsoft Office Suite and color management software
  • Able to learn new concepts while working with master colorist

Achieving Competency & Measuring Effectiveness

  • The Quality Colorist’s competency is assessed by the Quality Manager and Master Colorist based on overall job performance. The Colorist receives feedback on his/her performance through the company’s performance review process. Effectiveness is assessed by the Quality Manager during the performance review process based on business needs, project completion and overall performance at the discretion of the Quality Manager.
  • Color Vision is a job requirement. Candidates and/or employees must achieve a passing score on color blindness testing administered either internally or externally and on an on-going basis as deemed necessary by management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
