Payroll & Data Specialist

Lyman Morse Boatbuilding has a full-time opening in our payroll and accounting department at our Thomaston office. This person will be responsible for payroll processing and various accounting functions at the company. He/she must have a “can do” attitude to go above and beyond to ensure that the company’s payroll, accounting and benefit administration are administered with diligence and care. The Payroll & Accounting Specialist supports payroll and a variety of accounting tasks at a growing family-owned company.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll: process weekly paychecks for 100 employees, manage time off accrual system, maintain ancillary insurances

Ensure that payroll is accurately reported, and filings are made on a timely basis.

Prepare data and reports supporting 401(k) plan enrollment and administration, including annual 401(k) audit and compliance testing.

Brokerage: track commissions, prep closing paperwork.

QuickBooks: maintain books for our sailing regatta, Camden Classics Cup

Various accounting and bookkeeping duties related to month end close, utilities contracts.

Other duties assigned by the HR Manager and Accounting Manager

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting & payroll

High proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office (primarily Outlook and Excel)

High proficiency in payroll systems such as PayChex

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Experience with PierVantage ERP, and QuickBooks is a plus.

High attention to detail

Excellent communication skills (both oral & written)

Adapts to changes in the company due to seasonality and the growth of the company.

Interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining friendly, flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week
