Alaska West Express provides truckload transportation throughout the United States and Canada, specializing in shipments to and from Alaska where we are a leader in transporting liquid- and dry-bulk products, hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, and petroleum products.
With our fleet of flatbeds, stretch, lowboy, single- and double-drop trailers, we are recognized for dependable service to the oilfield, mining, construction, and manufacturing industries.
Alaska West is currently seeking a Local Driver based out of Anchorage, Alaska. The local driver will ensure loads are delivered efficiently and timely ensuring company procedures are followed.
Duties include but aren't limited to, inspecting trucks and trailers for defects to ensure safe operating conditions, maintaining records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations, and maintaining radio contact with dispatchers to receive pickup or delivery instructions.
What makes you successful in this position :
- Must possess a valid class "A" Commercial Driver's License with Doubles / Triples, Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements
- 1 - 2 years of tractor trailer driving experience
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must have the ability to pass a DOT Medical Examination
- Acceptable driving record
- Good judgment and a commitment to safe driving
