Overview
Knik Construction, Inc., an Alaskan heavy civil and asphalt paving construction company, is accepting applications for an honest, dependable, and dedicated Quality Control Technician with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform Contractors Quality Control (CQC) duties primarily in remote Alaska locations.
- Perform CQC duties under the direction of a QC Manager, Lead QC Tech, and multiple Project Managers.
- Follow Quality Control Plans or guidelines as assigned by the QC Manager.
- Perform CQC sampling, testing, observation, reporting and related work.
- Perform aggregate sampling and testing including sieve analysis, fracture count, and flat & elongated.
- Perform hot mix asphalt (HMA) sampling & testing including asphalt content, gradation, & density.
- Perform coring of HMA pavement with a portable core drill & stand.
- Additional types of aggregate and HMA testing may be required.
- Interpret QC & QA test results for conformance with project specifications.
- Report CQC results to others verbally, written, and digitally while maintaining positive relationships.
- Report CQC results in a timely and orderly fashion using Word, Excel, & Stonemont software.
- Safe handling and use of portable nuclear gauges.
- Work on government highway and airport projects, and also for private clients.
- Maintain positive relations with other Knik employees, subcontractors, clients and the public.
- Obtain required training and certifications in a timely manner.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized lab and vehicle.
- Lift, carry, and hold materials, tools, and samples.
- Position requires living for extended periods in remote Alaska work camps.
- Position is intermittent seasonal with the majority of work occurring between May and October.
- Work schedule can be intermittent based on our projects demand for CQC.
- This position is paid hourly with the potential for a high rate of earning.
- Typical work hours are 10 – 12 hours per day, 6 - 7 days a week with the potential for additional overtime.
- Ability to perform other duties including labor, truck driving or equipment operation might provide additional opportunities.

- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must provide valid documentation for the I-9 immigration document.
- Ability to obtain WAQTC & ACI certifications.
- Ability to obtain nuclear gauge safety & HAZMAT certifications.
- Ability to obtain MSHA and OSHA training certifications.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude towards coworkers, supervisors, and public at all times.
- Report to work at the designated start time.
- Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime when required.
- Must be willing and able to travel on short notice, including to remote locations, for extended periods of time.
- Must be willing & able to perform strenuous work in various weather conditions including extreme heat & cold.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the fleet safety program.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist coworkers or supervisors with other duties as requested.
- Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as required by OSHA and or MSHA.
- Must be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the work environment.
- Education, Training, & Work Experience Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- No experience required but a minimum 1 year of construction related experience preferred.
