Summary: The events manager plans and executes university events including logistics, budget, setup, site selection, vendors, audiovisual needs, security, production and other related needs. Job Description: Essential duties and responsibilities Responsible for direct supervision of events coordinator and supervision of event vendors, student employees and staff volunteers. Manage all aspects of university events including annual event strategy, budget establishment and monitoring, physical setup, site selection, catering, audiovisual needs, staging production and other related needs. Develop and enforce event-related policy in regards to parking, security and general event logistics. Create and ensure appropriate event décor as related to florals, linens, color scheme, lighting and production. Coordinate with Campus Operations for on and off campus event space needs and development of room layouts for all events. Organize reports, data and post-event analysis. Liaise with the associate director of events to develop event marketing plans, registration details and other communication needs. Liaise with Campus Operations for permits as needed from city manager, fire and health departments, for tenting, security and foodservice at events. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities Read, analyze and interpret complex documents Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints Make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics Write business documents and promotional materials Calculate figures, measure spaces and manage budgets Define problems, collect data and interpret complex information Agency experience is a plus. Minimum qualifications Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to work on campus or at off-campus event sites. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed for special events. Must be knowledgeable and sensitive to various social and cultural differences. Must possess excellent oral communication and organizational skills. Pleasant attitude and demeanor. Must be able to handle a wide variety of tasks and have the ability to work well independently. Must be able to solve problems and strategically advise and develop plans. Other qualifications Knowledge of professional event planning and appropriate regional contacts. Experience working with leadership and high-profile guests.
