Director of Software Engineering

We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering to join our Customer The position is based out of our San Jose office. We have a flexible hybrid working policy.

We are looking for a director of engineering to lead our engineering department and help us build great products. You’ll also manage our infrastructure and ensure all internal systems operate securely and effectively.

To be successful in this role, you should be confident managing our teams while, at the same time, setting goals, budgets and timelines for various projects. We also expect you to oversee our integrations with external partners and oversee all software development plans from ideation to execution.

Ultimately, you’ll make sure we use innovative technologies that maximize our productivity and help our company grow.

Director of Software Engineering Responsibilities

• Develops specific product development plans to achieve roadmap objectives for a cutting-edge product
• Works closely with product marketing to develop achievable product release roadmaps and executes to the defined timelines.
• Works directly with strategic customers to develop custom extensions to the product to fit specific requirements
• Uses independent judgment to develop implementation strategies, communicates progress toward corporate goals
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the engineering development team
• Ensures adherence to corporate quality processes and objectives of ISO9001 & Agile process methodologies
• Anticipates future needs and reports on technical and/or functional progress toward corporate goals.
• Typically manages in multiple disciplines, functions, and locations.
• US citizenship or permanent residency is required

• Bachelors/master’s degree in CS, CE, EE or similar
• Technical experience in managing operating systems development (experience with embedded OS is a definite plus) with teams of 15-20 engineers
• 15 years of professional experience with at least 5-8 years in diversified technical leadership and managing technology and SW Development teams.
• Experience with Safety (ISO26262, DO-178C) or Security (FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria) certifications will be a significant plus
• Ability to manage and grow a high-performance team, while remaining technically involved is essential.
• Experience in a rapid growth, start-up environment combined with larger company experience is an ideal profile.
• Ability to lead, influence and manage upward, downward and across the organization is critical
