Basic Function
As a member of our dynamic team and in the Maintenance Technician position, you will be responsible to perform all phases of general plant maintenance and become proficient in specialized areas of maintenance functions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the health, safety and environmental initiatives and programs at the Jackson facility.
- Work in a safe and effective manner.
- Follow all safety and environmental procedures.
- Attend monthly safety meetings.
- Perform safety observations.
- Report all Near Misses and incidents.
- No recordables.
- Responsible for the proper usage of general maintenance tools and equipment
- Responsible for having a working knowledge of maintenance language, verbal and written, shop arithmetic, elementary trigonometry, and physics.
- Must be able to interpret and understand prints and schematics of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Must be able to interpret and understand electrical schematics and PLC ladder diagrams.
- Certification or become electrically qualified as defined by OSHA 1910.331-1910.335.
- Ability to determine voltage of exposed energized parts.
- The ability to determine working clearance distances to specified voltages.
- Responsible for installing and repairing any wiring on electrical equipment.
- Determine safe loads, amp loading and voltage of conductors.
- Knowledge and understanding of the following: Available Fault Currents, Interrupting rating, Power Factor and Arc Flash Hazards.
- Assist in the upkeep of spare parts supply and storage system.
- Repair and install various plant equipment, determining failures and develop root cause.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse set of cross functional groups.
- Responsible for having a working knowledge of maintenance language, verbal and written, shop arithmetic, elementary trigonometry, and physics.
- Responsible for trouble shooting, determining failures and developing root cause analysis.
- Must be able to interpret and understand electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic to troubleshoot problems.
- Must effectively repair, adjust, tear down and rebuild to OEM specifications any equipment in the plant.
- Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of all plant processes, equipment/machinery, plant utilities, and predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to read and interpret common P&ID’s, equipment drawings, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
- Document records of all activities through a computerized maintenance management system.
- Responsible for properly using multi-meters, temperature and voltage calibrators, grinders, sanders, pipe cutters, threaders, hand and power tools.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate measuring equipment such as, micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges and other measuring tools.
- Problem solving and corrective action in support of continuous performance improvement
- Perform necessary preventative, predictive maintenance and scheduled repairs as necessary.
- Proper usage of general maintenance tools.
- Effective setup and usage of gas, T.I.G. and arc welders.
- Effectively construct, assemble and install guards and repair equipment.
- Knowledge of metals and various electrode properties and their combination results.
- Read and interpret PLC ladder Logic. Provide minimal database changes.
- Interpret prints and schematics of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatics.
- Knowledge and demonstration of Plant LOTO, Lock Out/Tag Out.
- Must have high school diploma or GED equivalency. Preferred candidates will have or will be pursuing an associate degree or higher in a maintenance related field.
- Minimum of 5 years Industrial Maintenance experience, to include electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, PLC’s and mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Computer literate and knowledge in Microsoft Office Products is a requirement. Knowledge of SAP Maintenance Module is a plus. Must have the ability to work in a team environment. Position requires attention to details.
- Technical certification and/or class certification would be a plus.
- Must be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision, able to influence colleagues at all levels. Must be relentless in driving results from self and others. Must be willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts and provide overtime coverage. Must be willing to work occasional plant callouts. Must be willing to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training and equipment). Must be willing to work around and/or manually interact with heavy equipment. Must be willing and able to work outside, year around under various weather conditions. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be willing and able to work in an environment that requires frequent bending, reaching, and lifting. Must be willing and able to work in tight or confined spaces. Must be willing and able to work at heights above 25 feet by climbing stairs and vertical ladders. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- The incumbent participates in the LyondellBasell commitment to the HSE policy and ISO14001 through an awareness of and adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental programs, together with management of environmental aspects of plant performance and all HSE aspects of departmental performance. The incumbent uses safe work practices, participates in safety meetings and advises his/her supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
