Overview
The Acute Care Laboratory at M Health Fairview Northland Medical Center in Princeton, MN is looking to fill one (1) casual (rotating weekend and holiday) Laboratory Care Technician (LCT) position. This position is non-benefit eligible, working 10-hour overnight shifts. This LCT will provide patient care while working overnight shifts every 4th weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 8:00pm to 6:00am and one weeknight shift per month from 8:00pm to 6:00am. This position will transition into an FTE benefit eligible role in early 2025. Training for this position will be fulltime MondayFriday mostly on day shift for at least four (4) weeks.
Responsibilities/Job Description
Working with diverse populations within a healthcare environment, the LCT plays a meaningful role in providing quality, proficient and professional services in keeping with Fairview Values as they interact with our patients, families and co-workers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection, as well as, provides for safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing. Responsible for accurately entering orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems; monitoring computer logs for incomplete work; scheduling tests/procedures and providing results in LIS/HIS and over the phone, the LCT's attention to detail and accuracy are the foundation for our providing quality laboratory services. Working as an individual or team member, the LCT continuously works towards providing quality service improvement and optimum support to the department and team members in achieving Fairview's goals.

Qualifications
Required
- At least 18 years of age
Education
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program OR-
- Completion of three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience OR-
- Enrollment in MLT or MLS program, including completion of a phlebotomy course.
Experience
- Successful customer service background within a diverse cultural setting
Preferred
- Prior laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic setting in a similar capacity
