Responsibilities
- Reviews plans to identify potential violations.
- Documents inspections and reports on any issues.
- Determines the quality of materials being used through testing.
- Determines whether construction work is being done safely and in conformance with approved applications, plans, and specifications.
- Attends meetings when necessary.
- Conducts field inspections to inspect standards of structures and materials.
- Issues violation notices and stop-work orders where structures and materials do not comply with regulations.
- Refers deviations or disagreements to the engineer in charge for clarification.
- Maintains records of documentation.
- Interprets drawings and specifications.
- Communicates with clients, contractors, supervisors, and other inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results and site progress.
- Maintains field notes.
- Prepares daily reports including description of contractor work activities, labor and equipment identification and quantity.
- Gather data and measurements to be used in the completion of checklists and quality assurance of various activities.
- Recommend approval of the work inspected in compliance with contract plans and specifications.
- Other related duties as required and assigned.
- 1-2 years of experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a closely related field.
