Our client is a leading privately held and growing metal fabricator. In this newly created quality engineering role, you will report directly to the corporate Director of Engineering and have responsibility for updating and implementing a new quality system in a high mix, low unit, production volume metal fabrication environment.

- Based in suburban Chicago with 2 manufacturing facilities to serve customers for custom and standard equipment needs
Position Overview
- Responsible for updating and implementing the facility quality control system
- Document and communication of manufacturing issues to the engineering team
- Document and communicate field service and / or customer issues to engineering and manufacturing teams
- Perform in process and final inspections of manufactured equipment and components while communicating deviations to the appropriate departments
- Verify and inspect all incoming materials and components while communicating discrepancies to procurement and manufacturing
- Responsible for creating and updating all incoming materials, in-process, and final inspection procedures
- Recommend updates and modifications to existing quality and production specifications to improve overall quality
- On an ongoing basis, actively work with team members to improve productivity, enhance processes and reduce costs
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Previous experience in a quality control/quality assurance role ideally within a metal fabrication-oriented manufacturing setting
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of welding techniques
- Ability to travel to vendor sites as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
