The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is seeking to hire a seasonal Test Barn Coordinator. Under the direction of the Chief Commission Veterinarian, this position provides seasonal administrative services at licensed racetrack facilities within the Commonwealth, including personnel management, records management, and related duties as assigned. The anticipated dates of service are April through November 2023.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist the Chief Commission Veterinarian at the Commonwealth’s licensed racetrack facilities (Plainridge Park and Suffolk Downs). Specifically, this position is responsible for maintaining the test barn area in a clean and professional manner, maintaining relevant records, preparing blood and urine samples from racehorses for shipment to the testing laboratory and ensuring that chain of custody procedures are followed.
Oversee the work of a core group of support staff in the field.

Knowledge/skills required:
Previous experience in the MGC racing division or in the racetrack industry is preferred
Previous experience with personnel management
Experience with relevant office software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in outdoor conditions
Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
Salary is hourly and commensurate with experience.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
The successful candidate will be required to pass an extensive background check that includes a full credit check, CORI, drug screen, and finger printing.

Under the law, the Commission is tasked with establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation, licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino licenses and one slots parlor license in Massachusetts.
