Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett®), an award-winning and industry leading environmental, health and safety, and architectural/engineering consulting firm, is seeking a full-time, mid-level Project Geologist/Environmental Scientist to support the firm’s growing Site Assessment and Remediation (SAR) practice. This position will serve the Federal, municipal, commercial, industrial, and institutional markets; implementing projects ranging from initial Phase I environmental site assessments through remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remediation system design, installation, system operation, and long-term maintenance and monitoring.
This position will involve all aspects of site assessment and remediation projects, including preliminary non-intrusive assessments, site investigation activities to include various types of environmental media sampling, oversight of monitoring well installation programs using a variety of drilling techniques, oversight of remedial actions, and the long-term operation of on-site remedial systems. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for geological and laboratory data management and interpretation and report preparation under the supervision of a senior-level advocate.
Collaboration with project managers and other team members is a key component of this position. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with Mabbett staff, team subcontractors, clients, and regulators who may be present at project sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or Environmental Sciences
- 5 years of progressive experience in site assessment and remediation working under the provisions of CERCLA, RCRA, or state regulatory programs.
- Experience collaborating and working with subcontractors, including environmental laboratories, drillers, surveyors, and geophysical firms.
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, strong professional writing, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to support multiple projects and tasks while working under tight deadlines.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and 8-hour Refresher Certifications required.
- Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office® Suite.
- GIS and/or AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour construction safety training is a plus.
- Ability to travel, work in the field/outdoors, as well as lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs.
- Must possess or be able to obtain, as a minimum, OMB Position of Public Trust and Federal Protective Services Favorable designations (pass a federal background check). Other clearance requirements for access to federal facilities may be necessary and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
