What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loan HMDA Specialist position at Macatawa Bank?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Loan HMDA Specialist is primarily responsible for preparing, troubleshooting and validating the annual Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) loan activity register (LAR) for the bank. This involves, but is not limited to: pulling and balancing reports, comparing exported data to loan documents, coordinating with retail and commercial lenders to obtain required information and leveraging internal procedures and compliance tools to ensure regulatory concepts are being applied. A high level of attention to detail, and the ability to analyze data and identify patterns are required to succeed in this role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Department Tasks:
- Pull HMDA export report from Loan origination software and balance to closed and open ended mortgage transactions for the month
- Verify export data against applicable loan documents and update where necessary
- Communicate with lenders to obtain missing information
- Transfer completed month’s data to third party software and resolve validity and syntax errors
- Coordinate with commercial department for review of HMDA reportable commercial loans and applications
- Manually determine and update data for commercial LAR
- Maintain high level of accuracy with all data entry
- Assist other areas of loan servicing, including but not limited to: answering inbound phone calls from borrowers, third parties and other Macatawa staff, input and setup of newly closed loans, payment posting, loan maintenance and other tasks as dictates by volume and business needs

- Prior HMDA or real estate lending experience a plus, but not required
