In line with this objective, the Venture Studio has launched a new venture called CQuel, working on a B2B platform and marketplace which will enable commercial real estate asset managers to assess their decarbonization needs, present a plan, match them with the most trusted suppliers and tech solutions to deliver on this, and help them provide grants and subsidies to successfully achieve their Net Zero goals and targets.
As we launch this new business, we are seeking to add an experienced Tech Lead to drive the early stages of the experimentation and architect, build and deploy the first version(s) of the product using a modern technology stack and engineering processes. Relevant experience managing B2B marketplaces or platforms, ideally with real-estate and decarbonization solution knowledge, is a big plus for us. Having scaled a platform from zero in previous engagements, is a must have.
The Role
As a Tech Lead, you will be responsible for driving the early stages of experimentation and leading the development of the CQuel platform. This platform is a B2B marketplace designed to enable commercial real estate asset managers to assess their decarbonization needs, connect with trusted suppliers and tech solutions, and achieve their Net Zero goals. You will work closely with the Mach49 team, Hines, and the founding team to architect, build, and deploy the first version(s) of the product using modern technology stack and engineering processes. Your experience in managing B2B marketplaces or platforms, particularly in the real estate and decarbonization domain, will be highly valued.
- Take ownership of all technology aspects of the CQuel platform in collaboration with the Product, Design, and Content team members.
- Architect, build, and deploy the initial version(s) of the product, employing a modern technology stack and following best engineering practices.
- Identify and implement prototypes to mitigate the riskiest parts of the project, including front-end engineering, data acquisition and processing pipelines, and ML modeling.
- Define, implement, and execute the technology roadmap for the platform.
- Effectively communicate technology-related topics and issues in a non-technical manner to the team and Hines leadership.
- Find the right balance between fast execution and long-term reliability as the product evolves from an early-stage experiment into a stable, trusted platform.
- Differentiate between core and non-core components, deciding whether to leverage open-source code or external providers and what to build from scratch.
- Recruit, hire, and manage internal engineering resources to strengthen the team.
- Manage the relationship and output of outsourced engineering teams and technology partners.
Experience
- 7 years of experience in full-stack engineering, systems architecture design, and SaaS platform design and development.
- Proficiency in selecting and developing products on a modern tech stack, including technologies like React and Redux, Node.js, Python, Django, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Docker, AWS, and GraphQL.
- Ability to quickly research and gain knowledge on new topics.
- Experience with selecting and deploying cloud hosting platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) and managing the DevOps process.
- Strong understanding of services architecture, API development, and container orchestration.
- Familiarity with continuous integration, development, and deployment practices.
- Deep understanding of databases, interfaces, and applications.
- Ability to make informed decisions regarding speed vs accuracy and keep vs throw-away choices.
- Knowledge of evolving technical no-code solutions.
- Previous experience in hiring and managing technical staff.
