Mackenthun's Fine Foods in Waconia is hiring Deli Specialists for our in-store Deli! This is a fun, fast-paced environment. Rate of pay starts at $16.00 and is negotiable, dependent on experience. Full-time and part-time positions are available.  We offer a 10% employee discount as well! Full-time employees are eligible for benefits and receive a vacation accrual and paid holidays.  

Availability: 12-8 PM shifts with rotating weekends

Summary

Mackenthun's Deli Specialists are responsible for performing Deli services according to department standards and processes.  Deli specialists produce a wide variety of foods, to-go meals, entrees, and more. 

Deli Specialists must be able to promote Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by greeting customers, offering assistance to customers, and answering customer questions. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service which may include taking and filling deli orders and assisting customers at the deli counter. 
• Prepare hot and cold deli products. 
• Set-up the salad case for the day. Assist customers at the deli counter. 
• Prepare food for the hot bar. Plan the hot bar menu.
• Slice meats and cheeses for the meat case, ensuring the case is full. Assist customers at the meat/cheese counter. 
• Production may include, but is not limited to: making pizzas, salads, grab and go salads, grab and go meals, sandwiches, prepping ingredients for the cooks.
• Employees will be cross trained to work in each station. Specific duties for each station are dependent on the shift you work.
• Maintain proper sanitation in the department and follow food safety guidelines according to the Minnesota Food Code. 

Other Duties

• Cleaning: washing dishes, taking out garbage, recycling and compost.
• Working the load, stock and rotate product on the sales floor, and putting away bulk product for production in the deli. 
• Keep the work area organized.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum High School Diploma or GED preferred but not necessary.  
• Experience is not required. 
• Must be able to clearly speak, read and write the English language.
• Be a positive and creative trend-setter with excellent customer service skills, problem solving and decision making skills. 
• Able to work on multi-tasked projects.
• Must be honest and dependable, able to work independently and as a team member.  
• Provide assistance as needed to ensure excellent customer service and personal productivity. 
• Minimize department losses due to improper product handling, storage, damage and spoils.
• Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources and image. 
• Must have an interest in selling food and a desire to learn the characteristics and qualities of the products and services Mackenthun's has to offer, in particular Mackenthun's Signature items. 
• MN Food Manager Certification preferred, may be obtained after hire. 

Physical Demands

Constant standing, walking, hearing, seeing for long periods of time. 

Frequent repetitive hand and wrist motions, bending at the waist, reaching arm's length/above shoulders/below waist, crouching, stooping, kneeling. 

Frequent to occasional climbing stairs/ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs. 

This position requires close/distance/peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision.

This position requires an excellent sense of taste and smell.

Work Environment

Work performed in a variety of indoor environments including refrigerated, wet, hot, cold and around machine/equipment noise on a terrazzo floor.  

Exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Associates work as a team and individually in a smoke-free facility with a multifaceted and fast paced environment.
