Mackin Talent is seeking an Optical Lab Technician to support our client in Redmond, WA. We are looking for a Senior level Lab Technician to support our team that is developing new technologies for AR/VR. There will be strong emphasis on characterizing the performance of optical module sub-assemblies, building, and integration of prototypes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct radiometric, photometric measurements using commercial and / or custom metrology tools
- Support display and camera calibration
- Support alignment of optical modules such as displays and cameras
- Collect, perform, and present statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics
- Execution of automation scripts (in Python and / or Linux)
- Support build and integration of optical module sub-assemblies that include cameras, displays, and sensors
Skills:
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills
- Strong ability to work independently and manage time
- Strong ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results
- Familiarity with display quality metrics, color science, fundamentals of imaging, and optical metrology
Education/Experience:
- BS degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline with 5 years of experience in Optical Engineering, Physics
- Hands-on experience in optical metrology
- In-depth knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology, characterization
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis
- Experience in one of the following commercial opto-mechanical design and simulation tools SolidWorks, NX or other CAD tools: Zemax, Code V, LightTools, FRED or other optical design/simulation tools
- Experience in test automation (instrument control, data collection and analysis) using LabView, MATLAB or Python
