The Douglas County Wraparound program exists as it differs from many service
delivery strategies, in that it provides a comprehensive, holistic, youth and
family-driven way of responding when children or youth experience multi system
involvement and or significant stressors.
The WrapAround process is led by a Facilitator who brings multiple systems
together with the child/youth, family and their natural supports to create a
highly individualized plan to address complex needs. The goals of WrapAround
are to meet the needs prioritized by youth and family, improve their ability
and confidence to manage their own services and supports, develop or strengthen
their natural supports, and integrate the work of all child/family serving
systems and natural supports into one streamlined plan. WrapAround is an
evidence-based practice. A WrapAround Facilitator engages all participants and
the role can be complicated, as it is beyond the usual one-discipline focus, as
it seeks to incorporate all aspects of a child’s or youth’s growth.
