Applications Engineer
The role of Application Engineer is a position with many areas for learning! There will be considerable time in the lab, learning instrument setups, learning how to use the probe station, taking data, learning about lab automation. These lab measurements are key to answering our customers' questions. This culminates in creating presentations using PowerPoint, Excel and other software to clearly communicate results of testing to customers.
Outside of the lab, the AE1 will work closely with peers to learn about how to gather and present data to customers. He or she will work with our ticket system, as well, and steadily move from answering simpler to more complex requests.
Regular attendance at technical design reviews will be included in the job, to provide exposure to inter-disciplinary detailed design discussions. In addition to these meetings, training will be provided to learn some of MACOM's design tools, such as Keysight's Advanced Design System. Learning these design techniques is fun and will be very helpful to career growth and technical savvy.
A candidate must be willing to actively participate in customer meetings and calls. At first, of course, they will be doing this with a senior level engineer for assistance.
Other tasks will include supporting the quality and reliability teams in their customer support endeavors, updating datasheets and application notes, and improving device documentation.
The applications team requires a relentless can-do attitude, a growth mindset, an eagerness to win business, and an attitude that meshes well with MACOM's core values.
