Job Overview:
Vendor Merchandisers drive sales and execution of strategic merchandising initiatives within their store. They manage their designated vendor’s total business within their store by identifying what is working, what isn’t, and how to address slow-selling areas. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Drive sales through educating store colleagues via product knowledge, tracking and merchandising new deliveries, and serving as experts in the location
- Communicates specific customer needs and shopping patterns to the Central buying office and vendor community
- Execute key merchandising initiatives for the brands they represent. Maintain contact with the vendor community
- Work across store teams to connect all the dots to drive best practice sales and execution.
- Track incoming shipments, put new goods out on the floor, manage inventory flow
- Ensure sales floor is properly signed for sales and markdowns
- Leverage vendor relationships and product knowledge to share product knowledge with customers and fellow colleagues
- Provide bi-weekly vendor comments and attend conference calls as needed with merchant teams to review ‘what’s working, what’s not and how to fix it’
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Dependable attendance & punctuality
Qualifications and Competencies:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1-2 years related experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers
- Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
- Ability to delegate
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking around store or department
- May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, color vision and climbing ladders
- Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment
- Frequently lift/move up to 50lbs
