Job Overview:
Maintain administrative practices concerning safety programs, health and wellness initiatives. Participates in safety committees, and facilitates the rollout of new programs and systems. Respond to safety issues as directed by the OHS Manager. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Administrative and Operations support for the safety program.
- Act as First Aid Responder (First Aid, CPR and AED certified) for work related and non-work related issues.
- Assist with coordination of Safety Committee Meetings, lead meeting when needed.
- Conduct required safety training for all associates as needed and determined by the OHS Mgr.
- Assist in the development of required safety training programs in conjunction with the OHS Mgr.
- Coordinate and track information related to on-going safety programs.
- Responsible for observation of safe work practices and making recommendations for additional training, etc.
- Spends a significant amount of shift on floor observing and coaching safe work practices/material handling skills.
- Responsible for supply stocking such as refilling/ordering first aid kits, gloves, etc.
- Complete entry of training, audits, and accidents in Safety Management System with strict attention to detail including timeliness and accuracy.
- Participate and assist in coordination of various Macy’s safety initiatives and programs.
- Conduct required monthly inspections per Macy’s policy (i.e. area inspections, equipment inspections, etc.)
- Assist OHS Manager in preparation and follow up for full facility audits and Loss Reduction Index audits.
- Participate in accident investigations and follow-up on recommendations with departments at the direction of the OHS Manager.
- Assist OHS manager with safety initiatives/motivation programs, etc. as needed.
- Collaborate with OHS manager as needed to resolve issues or concerns. Reaches out to support partners in absence of OHS manager.
- Elevates issues and concerns in a professional manner with appropriate cadence.
- Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in Safety related warehousing and distribution preferred.
- Eligible for CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA Regulations, Compliance & Training as well as other applicable safety standards related to the warehouse and distribution.
- Certification and continuing education in safety related fields a plus.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and other software programs.
- Ability to read and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
- Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking around store or department
- May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, depth perception and color vision
- Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment.
- Frequently lift/move up to 25lbs
Supply Chain Only and Colleagues Working in a Supply Chain Facility except in locations governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement:
Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi-monthly basis, depending upon factors including but not limited to the size of the facility and the number of colleagues on roll. Colleagues will be randomly selected for testing by a third party. Testing must be completed on the same workday the colleague is informed of selection for testing, absent extenuating circumstances. In all circumstances, testing must be completed within 24 hours of notification.
