Event Planner and Instructor - Full Time Position

Job Summary

SciAntics Group, featuring Mad Science of Western New England and ART-ventures for Kids, is looking for an event planner for our birthday party segment who also has strong instructor-performer capabilities, for a full time position based in our Springfield, MA headquarters.

Mad Science of Western New England and ART-ventures for Kids are the region's largest and most experienced provider of fun, hands-on and exciting science and art programs for elementary-aged children. Serving Western and Central MA, Northern CT and Southern VT and NH since 1998, we have emerged from the pandemic experiencing exciting growth and new opportunities.

At Mad Science we are having a blast. We do fun hands-on activities and demonstrations like building and flying rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help children create slime and other polymers, as well as many other innovative activities and entertaining demonstrations. You will help inspire the next generation of scientists by showing kids what science is really all about.

At ART-ventures for Kids we introduce children to a world of creativity and expression through themed, project-based art sessions. With our imaginative curricula and inspiring instructors, we encourage creative spirits and imaginations. We nurture creativity and the process of critical thinking, as children experience a variety of art techniques, tools, and original materials. We inspire children to interpret art in their own unique way as they explore artist's styles, artforms, culture and history.

We are looking for an enthusiastic new member of our team to help rebuild our birthday party segment post pandemic, as parents again begin to host parties in their homes. Both our science and art parties provide a fun, hands-on and entertaining experience for children and have always been a big hit with parents for their mix of entertainment, activities and learning. You will help develop, execute and maintain our promotional efforts, including digital marketing; respond to inquiries, book parties, train instructor/performers from our current pool and hire hew candidates, and generally manage the operations of the birthday party business. You will also be required to be one of our main instructor/performers at birthday parties, as well as an instructor in other programs like after-school programs, summer programs, events and workshops - which will round out your full-time hours.

Hourly pay may be supplemented by bonuses based on business segment performance, as well as tips received at events.

Requirements

• Experience as an event planner and/or in customer service. Experience working with parents to plan children's events a huge plus.
• Experience working with groups of elementary age (4-12) children (such as enrichment instructor teacher, volunteer or camp counselor)
• Theatrical experience and/or experience as a children's performer or birthday party entertainer a huge plus.
• Marketing experience and expertise a plus
• Well organized and detail oriented
• Have an engaging & outgoing personality
• Able to thrive independently and grow a business segment with great ideas and execution in an entrepreneurial manner.
• Emotional Intelligence and ability to work well with others in some fast-paced or time-stressed situations.
• Must be willing and available to work some weekend hours when most parties take place, as well as weekday afternoons and other flexible hours.
• Must have a reliable car and drivers license and be authorized to work in the USA
• All employees will be subject to a criminal background checks(required)
• Some college experience preferred. Degrees and/or graduate degrees a plus.

We will train you on our party formats, equipment and performance, as well as on our other programs, and we provide all materials. Birthday parties are typically on weekends; other events like stage shows can happen any time of day, and our after-school classes follow the school calendar and are presented throughout the school year. We also conduct week-long summer programs at many locations all summer and daytime workshops year round.
