What are the responsibilities and job description for the SMT Airfield Survey SME position at MAG Areospace?
- The SME must have the ability to instruct crisis response and non-standard aircraft integration in support of dynamic operations.
- Capable of supporting day and night operations without FAA instrumentation.
- SME will focus on airfield suitability, minimum Landing Zone (LZ) criteria, safety of flight protocol, and air to ground communications
- Instruct USSD personnel on selection, assessment, marking, communications, and air traffic control fundamentals.
- Instructor will focus on team’s ability to employ aircraft and other assets towards natural disaster and crisis response in CONUS and OCONUS efforts.
- SME will lead Blocks of instruction on aircraft considerations, capabilities, limited weather observation, Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK), mission planning, communications, day/night marking procedures, airspace deconfliction, and post-mission analysis.
- SME will plan and execute training scenarios throughout the duration of the RAD course.
- Serve as an academic advisor to specialized teams using nonstandard equipment.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge and Skills
The required skills and knowledge include:
- A thorough understanding of fundamental aviation principles and Landing Zone control procedures
- Experience in global response support into austere environments and uncontrolled airspace.
- Prior 1C2X1 with drop zone control certification is required
- Power Point (MS Office Suite) proficiency.
Education
The minimum level of education required is:
- High school diploma
Desired Requirements
The desired skills, knowledge, and education include:
- Emergency management-related training or Special Operations experience.
- Unconventional communications, airfield marking procedures, emergency management planning, and air traffic control procedures.
Other Qualifications
Outside of the above, other certifications, licenses, or clearances include:
- Must have an Active Secret Clearance
